Soujoud Boutique — ModaNova e-commerce platform
The context
A women's ready-to-wear boutique in Oran. Sales went through social media, with orders taken by hand, one message at a time.
The problem
That way of working had reached its limits on five counts: total dependence on the social platforms, no usable customer base, order handling that ate whole days, stock never in step between the shop and the posts, and an uncontrolled return rate on cash on delivery — the dominant means of payment in Algeria.
What we delivered
A bespoke e-commerce platform for a ready-to-wear boutique, specified in a twenty-page requirements document in which every requirement carries a unique reference, carried over unchanged into the acceptance test plan: a feature counts as delivered when the corresponding test is signed off by the client, not before.
Sixteen modules: storefront and editorial content, catalogue with size and colour variants, stock and replenishment, basket and checkout with no mandatory account, CIB and Edahabia payment through an approved gateway, carrier integration with waybills issued automatically, order management, returns and exchanges, customer area and loyalty, promotions, invoicing, permissions and security, business reporting, a bilingual French and Arabic interface with native right-to-left rendering, and an installable phone application with notifications.
Django 5.2 LTS and PostgreSQL 16, Redis and Celery for deferred processing, PostgreSQL full-text search with no external dependency, Docker deployment behind Nginx and Gunicorn. Hosted on a virtual private server located in Algeria, in accordance with Law 18-05.
The results
The acceptance certificate is signed. The sixteen modules were validated one by one against the acceptance test plan: a feature counted as delivered only once its test had been accepted by the client, and every one of them was.
Arabic was not treated as a translation bolted on afterwards. Reading direction is handled natively in the interface, which opens the shop to Arabic-speaking customers with no degraded version.
The bespoke source code passes to the client, and their data — catalogue, orders, customer file — stays exportable to Excel and CSV at any time. No per-seat licence, and no percentage taken on sales.
